Our Youth of Today, Leaders Tomorrow

The Mangalorean Association of Canada plays an integral role in providing a platform for developing leadership, especially among the youth of our community, through sports, literacy and cultural events. The Youth Forum organized on the 9th of February, 2008 at the Erin Mills Twin Arena was an excellent initiative focused on promoting, developing and mentoring the Mangalorean youth. It was open to all young adults who were interested in networking to demonstrate their talents and leadership and providing ideas to encourage and sustain the Mangalorean traditions, culture and language.

The Mangalorean Association of Canada (MAC) invites young adults between the ages of 17-28 years to connect, involve and lead by joining the Youth Wing and Forum. The youth initiative is an excellent channel for MAC to honor its mandate of promoting, developing and mentoring the Mangalorean youth in our community.

To achieve this goal, MAC is assisting to organize a Youth Meeting on February 9, 2008 between 2.30 4.30 pm at the Erin Mills Twin Arena multi purpose room. This meeting will be the first of many where the youth will meet, discuss and plan activities, goals and future events under the umbrella of MAC.

This invitation is open to all young adults who are interested in networking to demonstrate their talents and leadership and providing ideas to encourage and sustain our culture and language.

Events : MAC Annual General Meeting

The Mangalorean Association of Canada held its Annual General Meeting on Sunday, November 11, 2007 at the Tomken Twin Arena, Mississauga.

A brief synopsis of the past achievements was given and the treasurer presented the financial report. It was confirmed that the accounts were audited and available for review.

Due to lack of nominations to the Executive Council, no election was held as per the AGM agenda. Instead a proposal was recommended and agreement to the same was sought. The proposal was to postpone the EC elections by 1 year and allow the present members of the EC to continue in the interim. The proposal also listed the need to absorb 2 new nominations to the vacant positions for the EC as per the constitution. To ensure that the general body is involved in the functioning of the association, it was proposed that functional committees would be formed.

Christmas waves a magic wand over this world, and behold, everything is softer and more beautiful.

Christmas is a season for kindling the fire of hospitality, the flame of charity in our hearts, the spirit of love and forgiveness, of believing and sharing with family and friends. The Mangalorean Association of Canada (MAC) held its Family Christmas Tree on December 9, 2007 at the Tomken Twin Arena, Mississauga. This event gave our community a chance to come together in humble surroundings and family like ambience. Most importantly, it gave the children an opportunity to build their confidence and display their talents and enthusiasm.
