Bright blue skies! Hot humid temperatures! Energized animated people! It was a perfect day for an outdoor family picnic.

MAC organized yet another successful event, the Annual Family Picnic on June 28, 2014 at the Meadowvale Conservation area. Organizers were pumped and the participants were enthusiastic as the games were conducted. Everyone ? babies, seniors, toddlers, youngsters and adults within the community had something to participate in. Amidst all the excitement and entertainment, one could hear the echoes of the blaring megaphone announcements, cheering of the games and sounds of laughter and companionship. People connected, socialized, relaxed and enjoyed an outing devoid of stress and the day to day rat race.

Youngsters and adults passionately participated in games such as the 3-legged race, the lemon and spoon race, water balloon toss, tug-of-war and Bingo. There were shouts of joy as one youngster took the prize in a 50/50 draw. The mouthwatering potluck with delicacies such as Dumplings/Shellfish and Sorpetel, the delectable desserts and the evening ?ginger? tea culminated in a day well spent with family and friends.

MAC appreciates the generosity of the sponsors: Francis Aranha and Maxim D?Mello of Maxpres Financial Solutions.

MAC thanks all the members and the volunteers for their tireless efforts to coordinate and execute all the events of the day. We hope everybody had as much fun as we did organizing the event.

The Family Social organized by the Mangalorean Association of Canada (MAC) on the 3rd of May, 2014 was a remarkable success with pulsating music, spectacular dance performances, delicious food and pure fun. The band, New Illusions and DJ, Johnny S made the event even more memorable with their fantastic youthful music and singing. The emcee, Ivan D?Lima created an ambience of comfort with his repartee, jokes and flawless execution of the program.

The evening began with a short welcome speech by Ronald Fernandes, President of MAC. He highlighted the achievements of the association, thanked the sponsors for their generosity, the selflessness of our volunteers and the dedication of his Executive Committee. This was followed by several dance sessions with great music by the band and DJ. Irrespective of age, the young and old swayed and danced while abandoning all inhibitions and indulging in pure pleasure and a stress-free evening. Dinner was a delicious array of salads, vegetables, meat and dessert catered by the Grand Taj Banquet Hall.

The highlight of the Family Social was two dance performances: one by Shannon Pais who captivated the audience with her energy, fluidity and expressions. The other two performers were Samantha and Savanna Goveas who danced to Bollywood music and enthralled their audience with their awesome choreography, gracefulness and dynamic personalities. The line dancing was the triumph of the evening with at least a 100 dancers on the floor in organized lines performing to some very popular music. A 50-50 draw was a huge success with the winner taking a sizeable purse home. Jerson Marques captured the night with his lens and froze epic moments for posterity.

MAC expresses its genuine gratitude to the guests who attended the Family Social despite commitments and busy schedules. MAC recognizes and appreciates the collaboration, support and assistance of the evenings' well-wishers and sponsors. MAC acknowledges and applauds the support, commitment and dedication of all its members and volunteers who worked hard to organize an event of this magnitude.
