By Ronald D'Souza and Lawrentina D'Souza

This highly interactive Program based on the "Learning by Doing" principle targeted our youth by equipping them with the tools to communicate concise and impactful messages. The workshop also provided students with skills they can use immediately in class presentations, and other university experiences, and carry into their professional careers.

Below is the impression provided by Lawrentina D'Souza:

Today, we had the opportunity of attending a useful Leadership and Careers workshop hosted by the Ontario Konkani Association. The main objective was to be a successful communicator, observer, and doer. This was accomplished through activities such as personality assessments, mock interviews, and impromptu speeches. We also learned a fair deal about our potential futures through university and career presentations, booths, and discussions. It was an interesting day where we developed our skills and understanding and enjoyed a great youth bonding experience. The quality of the knowledge we acquired was priceless and we urge our fellow youth members to make use of such opportunities as well.

Events : The spirit-filled Lenten Mission

The Mangalorean Association of Canada had a great beginning in this New Year with graceful and spirit-filled spiritual mission in Konkani during the Lenten season. The main preacher was Rev.Fr.Joel D'Souza ofm.cap. accompanied by Rev.Fr.Henry Alva ofm.cap. The spiritual thirst-quenching retreat talks were preached on every Saturdays during the Holy month of Lent. There was a quite reasonable number of faithful who attended the mission thoroughly enjoyed the spiritual treat on all those days. All talks were based on Holy Bible clubbed with attractive audio-visual presentation by Fr.Joel. The graceful retreat was an in-depth enlightenment towards the Word of God.

The spiritual talk addressed to the Youth on 21st March 2015 by Fr.Joel & Fr.Henry was like an icing on the cake. It was very encouraging to see our own youth leading the prayers and singing in Konkani. Hats off to Sonia Monteiro, a talented personality of our community, for taking a great leadership in training & mentoring the youth.

Everyone who attended this spiritual mission really had a great Soul-elevating experience. The Konkani community in Mississauga and the surrounding areas is thankful to Fr. Joel D'Souza, Fr.Henry Alva, Fr.Edwin D'Souza, the Choir group of Merlyn Rodrigues and the Mangalorean Association of Canada for organizing & rendering such an enriching and spirit-filled mission.
