Our Youth of Today, Leaders Tomorrow

The Mangalorean Association of Canada plays an integral role in providing a platform for developing leadership, especially among the youth of our community, through sports, literacy and cultural events. The Youth Forum organized on the 9th of February, 2008 at the Erin Mills Twin Arena was an excellent initiative focused on promoting, developing and mentoring the Mangalorean youth. It was open to all young adults who were interested in networking to demonstrate their talents and leadership and providing ideas to encourage and sustain the Mangalorean traditions, culture and language.

The mood outside was dull, dreary and wintry but the spirit, enthusiasm and ideas inside were invigorating and blistering. The youth did not hesitate to express their opinions and participate in the workshops wholeheartedly. Rinus Pais, the leader and pioneer of the youth movement, in association with MAC worked extremely hard to set up the forum, create and initiate activities and establish the framework for a youth wing. A number of ideas and projects were initiated and discussed and these will lay the foundation for a dynamic youth wing that will strengthen the association and its goals.

The Mangalorean Association of Canada enlists the support of parents and guardians to encourage the youth to become members of the youth forum. In time, our youth will be encouraged and motivated to assume leading roles and run the forum on their own. These will be the leaders for tomorrow.
